Privacy Policy

Sinbad Syria ("we", "us") operates the Sinbad Syria mobile app, which helps travelers discover and book travel experiences in Syria. This page explains what information we collect, why, and how you can control it.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, profile photo, and a unique account identifier from Google, via Firebase Authentication. We do not collect a password — sign-in is handled entirely by Google.
  • Preferences. Your chosen language, theme, and display currency, so the app looks the same way next time you open it.
  • Push notification token. A device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) used to send you notifications — e.g. about new experiences from organizers you follow, or updates on a booking you've made. You can disable this at any time in your device's notification settings.
  • Saved experiences and organizer subscriptions. Which listings you've saved, and which organizers you follow.
  • Booking activity. When you contact or book a listed experience, we create a booking record containing your name, the experience and organizer involved, and timestamps. After your trip, we may ask a short survey question — whether the trip matched what was advertised, and a rating — to help us keep listings accurate and organizers accountable.
  • Reviews. If you write a review of an organizer, the rating and text you submit are stored and shown publicly on that organizer's profile, attributed to your account.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not access your device's location, camera, or photo library. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics/tracking SDKs. We do not process or store payment card information — bookings on Sinbad Syria are paid directly between you and the organizer, outside the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate your account and keep your preferences consistent across sessions
  • To send you notifications you can opt out of at any time
  • To connect you with organizers when you book or contact a listing
  • To measure whether booked trips matched what was advertised, so we can maintain trust and accuracy across listings
  • To display your reviews to other travelers

We do not sell your information to third parties.

4. How Information Is Shared

  • With the organizer of a listing you contact or book, so they can fulfil your request (name and booking details)
  • With our infrastructure provider, Google Firebase/Google Cloud Platform, which stores and processes app data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments
  • Google's own privacy policy governs the sign-in process itself: policies.google.com/privacy

We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. This immediately deletes your account record and your Google sign-in connection. Some data — such as reviews you've posted or past booking records — may be retained after account deletion, since organizers and other travelers rely on that history; where retained, it is no longer linked to an active account of yours.

To request deletion of any data not covered above, contact us using the details in Section 10.

6. Delete Your Account

To delete your Sinbad Syria account and associated data:

  1. Open the Sinbad Syria app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap "Delete Account" and confirm

This immediately deletes your account record and disconnects your Google sign-in — you will be signed out and the account cannot be recovered.

What is deleted: your account profile, saved preferences, saved/favorited experiences, and organizer follows.

What may be retained: reviews you've posted and past booking records may remain visible to organizers and other travelers after deletion, since they form part of the platform's shared history; retained data is no longer linked to an active account of yours.

No separate request process is needed — deletion happens immediately from within the app. If you're unable to access the app, contact contact@sinbadsyria.com and we will process the deletion manually within 30 days.

7. Notifications

Push notifications are sent via Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can disable them at any time in your device's system settings without affecting your ability to use the app.

8. Children's Privacy

Sinbad Syria is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Security

We rely on Firebase's security infrastructure, including encrypted data transit and access-controlled storage, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
